The praying mantis is known for holding its own when confronted with danger, even though they are tiny in size. They rely on their defense, which helps them attack their prey or anyone that is threatening them. When in danger, you will never see a praying mantis retreating; instead they get into battle formation, and will aim to make themselves look big.

They will do this by raising their wings, and standing up tall, while shifting from side to side, in order to intimidate their opponent. The best part, is that this tactic is generally successful, since it dissuades other animals from attacking the mantis, particularly because they don’t want to engage in a fight with the mantis.
